the choos and i got together again this week to do some more planning for renegade. look at this lovely planter business that alethea made. strawberries & marigolds!

jill is having a blowout print sale and was oh so kind to gift me with one of my favorites based on the inside-out dollhouse her and alethea had been building in seattle. this print reminds me of the paper dollhouse my mom had as a kid, pictured at the top of le blog.

2008 recap

i'm sorry i bailed on my beloved bloggy at the tail-end of 2008, especially since quite a bit happened that i would've liked to commemorate. here's a quick run through of some highlights:

it was looking down at the financial district (one of my least favorite parts of the city) that i was unexpectedly overwhelmed w/ nostalgia and decided to spend my birthday at the punchline which is right next to the pyramid.

i turned 29 on january 14th.

ted gave me a great present for my birthday: a framed picture of hisself from when he was little.

the renegade craft fair finally came to san francisco last weekend! i picked out a few choice items.

sweet & kind proprietor lynn russell printed these in collaboration with artist yoo-ii, who mined inspiration from both the lily ponds found in a park in her hometown of tainan, taiwan, and the horizontal register of traditional chinese painting.

flea market, solo

sunday was long and productive for me, and it started early with a trip to the alameda flea market, the crown jewel of northern california flea markets.

content to just stroll about, i quickly concluded that flea markets provide the absolute best people watching. i love seeing what items people are clutching to their chests or pushing around in carts. i even got to eavesdrop on a couple conferring over potential purchases via walky-talkies!!

it is certainly true here, sometimes one man's junk is another man's treasure.


i initially thought i wouldn't buy anything, but the shape of this little 4 pleased me so. $6, not much of a haggler.


my favorite purchase is this little cast iron trivet. $5, also no haggling. it's worth more than that to me!

p.s. laura normandin hand cut these felt trivets that are on view at rose and radish. one of my favorites is the lower left one which you might find familiar...

where shall i hang them?

the prints i ordered last week from berkley illustration arrived today! i discovered this series on the treasure trove that is design*sponge, and if dandified animal portraits are your thing then rejoice, for three new animals will be added to the collection each month. my favorite is the frog who i guess reminds me of kermit, the paramour of my childhood idol.
